FT has 1 million paying digital subscribers

In another one million milestone, The Financial Times has reached one million paying digital subscribers. FT CEO John Ridding said: “This is another milestone in our successful digital transformation and a strategy we have been pursuing for over a decade. The FT is proof that quality journalism can be a quality growth business, and digital journalism can be a quality global business.”

“We’re designed to be a marketing engine for the cities”: 6AM City hits milestone 1 million newsletter subscribers

After expanding to 24 cities last summer, 6-year-old hyper-local newsletter publisher 6AM City has seen exponential subscriber growth, this week reaching one million newsletter subscribers. They are also on track to exceed $10 million in revenue in 2022. Careful development of a blueprint and getting the right mix of ad revenue is helping their acceleration.

Reach shares tumble 25% on warning that inflation will hit profits

It’s not hard to see how Russia’s attack on Ukraine could impact London’s FTSE and four of yesterday’s top five fallers are connected to the countries in conflict. The Reach share price has lost over 40% since the start of the year and this week’s slump comes after a profits warning blamed on inflation, specifically rising print and energy prices. With such a sharp drop, it’s tempting to wonder if there’s something else going on, but it wouldn’t be surprising if this is just another painful wrinkle in print’s slow decline.

Advertisers are saying the way people use social media is changing, pressuring brands to abandon broad campaigns and create content for each individual platform. Maybe marketers are finally starting to get back to thinking about positioning for people and not platforms.
