Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

FIPP, The Global Media Network, has launched its 2022 Rising Stars in Media awards, designed to find the brightest talent from around the global industry across both journalism and business. Held in partnership with UPM Communication Papers, entries are open to anyone under the age of 30, or those who have been employed in media for less than 5yrs.

Awards will be presented in the following two categories:

  • Rising Stars in Journalism: FIPP is looking for the best new journalistic talent in any field. If you can demonstrate that you’ve produced innovative, impactful work, then FIPP wants to hear from you.
  • Rising Stars in the Business of Media: where the judges will be looking for examples of success from anyone involved in the business of media, including areas such as product development, sales, marketing, distribution, technology and more.

Entrants can either nominate themselves, or somebody in their team they feel has excelled over the past twelve months. The judging panel will select up to three winners in both categories, who will all receive full FIPP memberships for a year alongside their award.

From there, an Overall Rising Star in Media 2022 will be named for each category. These two individuals will be invited to join the FIPP Board for 12 months, as well as being flown out to the 44th FIPP World Media Congress in Lisbon-Cascais, Portugal in June, where they will receive their award at a special presentation ceremony.

Entries close at midnight on Friday 6th May

“After a two-year break, we’re delighted to announce the return of the FIPP Rising Stars Awards for 2022,” says James Hewes, FIPP President & CEO. “Presented once again in partnership with our friends at UPM, these prestigious awards identify the industry’s best and the brightest new talent in both journalism and business.”

“For UPM, it is important that the Rising Stars Awards is being continued because it clearly shows young people appreciate the value of paper,” says Ruud van den Berg, Senior Vice President, Sales, UPM Communication Papers.

“We also firmly believe young talent within our industry provides new insights and experiences we can all learn from. This enables the industry to grow and develop in these extraordinary times. By partnering with FIPP, UPM commits to the future of print and its effective coexistence with digital media.”
