Immediate Media, publisher of BBC Good Food, olive, and BBC Easy Cook, has acquired Nutracheck – one of the biggest digital subscription apps in the UK – to enhance its food portfolio as well as grow its subscriptions business.

Immediate Media Co, the special interest publisher, has acquired Nutracheck, the UK’s leading food diary app and website. With 350,000 premium subscribers, Nutracheck is one of the biggest digital subscription apps in the UK across any genre.

Nutracheck provides high-tech calorie and nutrient tracking, using a unique food database with over 350,000 products and a barcode scanner, as well as connectivity to activity-tracking devices.

Immediate is already the UK’s leading food media publisher with 30M monthly users & 104M page views, as well as a combined print audience of nearly one million. The acquisition of Nutracheck further enhances Immediate’s food portfolio, offers significant growth opportunities, and expands Immediate’s digital capabilities.

Nutracheck is a great strategic fit for us. We can see real developmental and growth opportunities both for Nutracheck and our food business. The (deal) significantly grows our digital subscriptions base and enhances our skills expertise.

Sean Cornwell, Immediate’s Platforms CEO

Launched in 2005, Nutracheck was the UK’s first combined online and mobile diet service and has won national and international awards for innovation and customer service.

The company will continue to be based in Nottingham, with founding partners, CEO Tim Vryenhoef, Marketing & Communications Director, Rachel Hartley, and Technical Director, Paul Cookson, continuing to lead the business, working closely with Immediate’s Platforms Leadership team to realize the longer term growth plan.

Over the past 17 years we’ve built Nutracheck to become the UK’s highest rated nutrition tracking app. There is a meeting of minds in terms of our business cultures and ethos, as well as an obvious overlap in terms of our respective audiences. We believe this partnership will be excellent for the Nutracheck brand, our team and ultimately the people we work for, our loyal members.
