Sovrn Holdings, Inc, the publisher-focused tech firm and programmatic ad exchange that services more than 25,000 publishers and websites, has announced the acquisition of San Francisco-based VigLink.

Founded in 2009 by CEO Oliver Roup, VigLink delivers revenue to publishers through content-driven commerce products that capitalize on consumer interest and intent.

The company’s flagship offering transforms ordinary product links into monetized links, earning publishers revenue from resulting clicks or sales. VigLink currently works with over 70,000 online retailers and merchants including eBay, Target, Amazon, and Wal-Mart.

The acquisition of VigLink complements the Sovrn suite of products and services, offering content creators more revenue-generating tools. It also creates one of the largest portfolios of publishers on the internet consisting of more than 50,000 independent sites, 250M daily active consumers in reach, and more than $1B in annual consumer purchase behavior.

Walter Knapp, CEO at Sovrn, comments, “Sovrn and VigLink share a commitment to developing products and services that help publishers do more, learn more, and earn more. Despite generating billions of dollars in annual purchase behavior, most publishers see only a fraction of the revenue they help generate – usually through the ads they run on their site. This acquisition brings another important and fast-growing revenue stream to publishers of all shapes and sizes, enabling them to capitalize on the consumer interest and intent they’ve created.”

Oliver Roup, Founder and CEO of VigLink, comments, “VigLink was founded on the realization that the value publishers deliver to audiences and advertisers is not adequately recognized. In Sovrn we’ve found a partner that shares our view that publishers deserve better, and with the right tools they can do better. Together, we’ll be able to bring more resources and more impact to that fight.”
